Jerusalem Churches

The Jerusalem church boldly proclaimed the Word as Jesus commanded.  Since the Holy Spirit was with us after Pentecost, we have such courage and strength.  The disciples of Jesus, the apostles, began to preach the gospel first, and the gospel they preached served as a strong pillar of the church. That is why the apostles are called 'pillars of the church' (Gal 2:9).

The next generation who heard the words of the apostles continued the church.  The church built on the words of the apostles is called the 'apostolic church'.  Now, we also received the gospel as it was preached by the apostles, and we are continuing the apostolic church that preserves and delivers the gospel as it is.

예루살렘 교회는 예수님의 명령대로 말씀을 담대하게 선포했다.  오순절 이후 성령님이 함께 하시니 그런 용기와 힘이 생긴거다.  예수님의 제자, 곧 사도들이 먼저 복음을 전하기 시작했고, 그들이 전한 복음이 교회의 든든한 기둥역활을 하게 되었다.  그래서 사도들을 '교회의 기둥' (갈 2:9)이라고 부른다.  

사도들의 말씀을 들은 다음 세대가 교회를 이어갔다. 그렇게 사도들의 말씀 위에 세워진 교회를 '사도적 교회'(apostolic church)라고 한다. 지금 우리도 사도들이 전한 바로 그 복음을 그대로 받았고 그 복음을 그대로 잘 보존하고 전하는 사도적 교회를 이어가는 것이다.
